EXPLORE P-9 ESTER TECHNOLOGYMOTORSPORT HERITAGE
FROM FORMULA RACING TO GT. FROM ENDURANCE TO DRIFT.
International motorsport has played a defining role in the performance journey of PRINCE LUBRICANTS. From FIA Formula and GT Challenges to Nürburgring endurance racing, the King of Europe Pro Drift Series, East African Safari Rally and countless Gymkhana, this extensive motorsport heritage reflects a performance philosophy shaped by competition, extreme operating conditions and the relentless pursuit of engine protection and reliability.

Open wheels, a carbon tub and an engine just behind the driver’s shoulders: single-seater racing is motorsport at its most concentrated. Across FIA Formula and GP3, engines spend whole races high in the rev range while braking and cornering forces throw the oil around the sump. A lubricant film that thins at temperature has nowhere to hide here, which is what makes it such an honest test of a racing oil.
GT racing photography
GT racing puts the cars people dream about on the grid: production-based sports cars, re-engineered for the track and raced wheel to wheel. In championships such as the GT World Challenge, drivers share cars, pit stops leave engines heat-soaking in the pit lane, and sprint races give way to multi-hour rounds. The oil has to stay stable through every one of those heat cycles, from the green flag to the chequered flag.
Gymkhana photography
Gymkhana is car control turned into an art form: a tight course of cones, barrels and obstacles, attacked against the clock with handbrake turns, spins and full-lock slides. Speeds are low, but the engine is anything but relaxed, swinging from idle to the limiter again and again with little air moving through the radiator. Short, savage bursts of heat like these are where oil temperatures climb fastest and protection matters most.
Endurance racing photography
Endurance racing asks a different question: not how fast, but how fast for how long. At the Nürburgring, the Nordschleife’s crests, compressions and changing weather punish cars through the day and the night, while Le Mans keeps engines at full throttle down its long straights hour after hour. Over 24 hours an oil sees more heat, shear and distance than many road cars see in months, and it has to finish as strong as it started.
Drift photography
Drifting is judged on angle, line and style, and the engine pays for every point. In the King of Europe Pro Drift Series, cars are held sideways at high revs for entire runs, rear wheels spinning, with little clean air reaching the radiator and the oil temperature climbing from the first corner to the last. Tandem battles double the pressure. It is one of the most thermally brutal places a lubricant can work, and one of the most spectacular to watch.

Touring car racing is close, physical and relentless: grids of production-based saloons and hatchbacks racing door to door, often separated by tenths of a second. TCR has grown into a global category, and its cars run turbocharged engines drawn from the road-car world, the most direct line there is between the race track and the driveway. Repeated sprints, qualifying bursts and heavy traffic show exactly what an oil is made of.
